What you'll do

  • Lead and manage sales and use engagements performed within the SALT Group, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing day-to-day client matters independently and escalate strategic/high-risk issues appropriately
  • Create an environment to challenge, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and staff through feedback, delegation, and mentoring
  • Develop and enhance technical understanding of SALT specialty areas
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture within the SALT practice and strengthen relationships across service lines
  • Serve as Firm technical resource for multistate sales and use tax issues
  • Lead sales and use tax practice initiatives, process improvements, and service offerings
  • Collaborate across service lines to identify integrated client solutions and expand client relationships
  • Champion continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies, AI tools, and workflow enhancements
  • Represent the firm through speaking, publications, and professional organizations

What they require

  • Minimum of 10 calendar years of state and local tax experience
  • CPA or CMI preferred
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting and/or taxation, or advanced degree (e.g., law degree) and related work experience
  • Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education required each year
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and developing high-performing teams
  • Proficiency in complex state and local tax research
  • Proficiency in use of tax compliance software, legal research software, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage state and local tax audits and advocate client positions in adversarial settings
  • Ability to manage economics and profitability of projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Embrace and promote technology-enabled service delivery, including AI tools and automation
