Sales Associate II - IVP Remote - USA Sales Associate II - IVP Work Location: Remote - USA Schedule: Full time To advance the purpose of InterVarsity Press, this position will contribute to the success of IVP book lines and our work with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship by driving sales and providing key account management for academic and/or special market sales, and publishing initiatives undertaken in support of our overarching goals. It will also require presence at a variety of annual conferences. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Personal: o Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world. Initiate, manage, and grow relationships with a portfolio of accounts by: o Working with assigned accounts to strengthen IVP’s existing base of customers o Prospecting, pursuing, and assessing new leads within assigned markets o Guiding existing and new business through the sales process to grow IVP revenue o Maintaining regular cadence of outreach via phone, video, video calls, and other communication methods o Selling IVP resources, including frontlist and backlist, to assigned accounts to ensure customers know about current and forthcoming titles o Collaborating with accounts to find creative solutions for their needs, leveraging internal marketing and publicity assets o Contributing to select strategy plans with marketing, publicity, design, editorial, and other teams to bring each season to market, as necessary o Traveling to conferences and/or account visits, as needed Some characteristics that describe this person are: o Demonstrates self-motivation for finding new opportunities for IVP resources within assigned markets o Has hunger for pursuing new opportunities and maintaining knowledge of assigned accounts and markets o Embodies a posture of teachability and flexibility to adapt to and succeed in changing industry demands o Consults key sales data to make informed decisions on sales activity and strategy o Values results and relationships with accounts and colleagues All other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS o Affirmation of InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith o Effective oral and written communication skills o Knowledge of and interest in thoughtful Christian books. o Familiarity with Churches, ministries, and special market sales a plus. o Self-motivated with outstanding organizational skills o Ability to achieve and maintain a high level of knowledge regarding InterVarsity Press products, services, policies, programs, and procedures o Prudence with confidential information o Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications o Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment o Flexibility to travel upto 10-15% for conferences and sales appointments as needed o Flexibility to attend Urbana Student Missions Conference every six years, Dec. 26-Jan.1, and National Staff Conference every three years (the year after Urbana), approximately Jan. 3-8. LEVELS IN JOB FAMILY (POSTING WILL STATE THE RELEVANT LEVEL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POSTING) Sales Associate – Grade 5 – non-exempt, hourly The Sales Associate I is more focused on administrative sales tasks including IVP art licensing supervision, oversight of incoming shipment quality, support of production work, mailings, and other administrative requests to fulfill departmental needs. Therefore this role may not cover all of the above listed responsibilities. This level may focus on specific markets. It may be an entry-level role. Sales Associate II – Grade 6 - exempt The Sales Associate II is responsible for all of the above and does more independent work that requires judgment. They handle account development and management rather than discrete administrative work alone. The Sales Associate II will have at least two years of relevant and successful sales experience and will typically have a bachelor’s degree. Senior Sales Associate – Grade 7 – Exempt The Senior Sales Associate will be responsble for all of the above, will handle more complex tasks, and may have a broader scope to assist various market segments. The Senior Sales Associate will have at least five to seven years of relevant and successful sales experience and will typically have a bachelor’s degree.
