Retirement Onboarding Specialist with 3-5+ years of experience in retirement plan documents and TPA operations. Must have a strong understanding of ERISA, IRS regulations, and 401(k) plan provisions. This is a remote role for candidates in the Eastern and Central time zones.

What you'll do

  • Manage onboarding activities for new retirement plan clients, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met
  • Maintain accurate onboarding systems, status reports, and documentation to keep internal and external stakeholders informed
  • Review and map prior plan documents to ensure plan provisions are accurately reflected in the new plan
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate plan documents, amendments, restatements, SPDs, and related materials
  • Participate in plan provision and onboarding calls with clients, advisors, and internal teams as needed
  • Explain plan provisions and requirements clearly to clients and partners, helping them understand available options and next steps
  • Identify opportunities to improve plan design and recommend solutions for provisions that may not be supported
  • Prepare and submit approved plan provisions to recordkeepers and coordinate the corresponding plan documentation
  • Interpret and review legal and plan documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Partner with internal teams and external providers to resolve issues and keep onboarding projects moving forward
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and methodologies as the business continues to grow
  • Take ownership of onboarding activities from initiation through completion while delivering a high-quality client experience
  • Other duties as assigned

What they require

  • 3–5+ years of experience working with retirement plan documents, qualified retirement plans, or TPA operations
  • Strong understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations governing qualified retirement plans
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting, and drafting retirement plan documents
  • Strong understanding of 401(k) plan provisions and plan design concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate complex retirement plan concepts clearly to clients, advisors, and internal partners
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and follow them through to completion
  • Preferred: Experience with plan amendments, restatements, SPDs, and other retirement plan compliance documents
  • Preferred: Experience with 401(k) plan administration, including compliance testing, plan operations, and document update cycles
  • Preferred: Experience working directly with employers, advisors, recordkeepers, or other retirement plan partners
  • Preferred: Familiarity with retirement plan document and administration systems
  • Preferred: ASPPA credentials such as QKA, QKC, or QPA, or progress toward certification
