What you'll do

  • Works with data, develops preliminary findings, and prepares written reports and data visualizations that supports the research of the Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI).
  • Works closely with other FSRI leaders and researchers to analyze data, and develop models associated with fire safety science to ensure all processes are accurate and technically sound.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable data products and standardized data models across research domains.
  • Analyzes emergency response data to determine trends and develop solutions.
  • Plan, design, and complete initial and follow-up tests as needed to validate results.
  • Work with students and teams.
  • Present research results internally or externally as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

What they require

  • Expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and hypothesis testing.
  • Experience designing interactive dashboards, reports, and executive-level presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data analysis libraries.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments (AWS, Snowflake, Dash).
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and work directly with Research Scientists and other team members in order to complete a project from start to finish.
  • Ability to serve as lead author on reports and papers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field plus 8 or more years of directly related work experience OR Master’s degree in ... plus 4 or more years of directly related work experience OR PhD in ... or equivalent experience plus 2 or more years of directly related work experience.
