What you'll do

  • Analyze and model complex reinsurance treaties (proportional, non-proportional, retrocessional) using industry-standard catastrophe models.
  • Prepare, validate, and quality-assure exposure data for input into catastrophe models.
  • Execute catastrophe models, interpret results (exceedance probability curves, average annual loss, return periods), and identify key risk drivers.
  • Develop and analyze custom scenarios to assess potential impacts of specific events or changes in exposure.
  • Participate in the validation and enhancement of catastrophe models, including parameterization and calibration.

What they require

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in catastrophe modeling within the reinsurance industry.
  • Proficiency in at least one major catastrophe modeling platform (Verisk Touchstone, RMS RiskLink, CoreLogic RQE).
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance principles, treaty structures, underwriting practices, and statistical concepts including extreme value theory.
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis using SQL, R, or Python.
