Remote GI Registered Nurse who handles clinical triage, high-volume patient inbox management, and urgent escalations, including after-hours on-call about once every four weeks. Must hold an active, unencumbered RN license, be willing to obtain multi-state licensure, and be located in one of the ~19 approved US states. Required experience in clinical triage / high-volume patient inbox management / specialized GI nursing practice.

What you'll do

  • Execute timely asynchronous and synchronous clinical triage for patient-reported symptoms via secure chat, phone calls (TalkDesk), and EHR tasks.
  • Act as primary incident lead for Slack-based Urgent Symptom Escalation and 911 Critical Incident workflows.
  • Perform clinical risk assessments, apply C-SSRS screening protocols for patients in crisis, stabilize safety concerns, and route appropriately.
  • Manage, review, and clear high-volume lab and imaging results across AthenaOne clinical inboxes.
  • Review normal lab panels and communicate reassurance, and summarize abnormal findings for APP review.
  • Process medication refill requests and pharmacy inquiries per standing orders/index and resolve coverage/prior authorization barriers.
  • Provide comprehensive inbox support for APPs during OOO periods, high-output periods, or caseload surges.
  • Partner with Care Coordinators, RDs and BH providers to support multidisciplinary GI care plans.
  • Monitor daily inbox metrics and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

What they require

  • Active, unencumbered RN license with willingness/ability to hold multi-state licensure as required by service-level expansion.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical triage, high-volume patient inbox management, or specialized GI nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise across specialized GI pathways (IBD, IBS, H. pylori protocols, SIBO testing/education, elevated fecal calprotectin, specialized lab monitoring).
  • Ability to act as primary lead for urgent symptom escalations and critical incident workflows (911, suicidal ideation/C-SSRS screening, acute crisis stabilization).
  • Ability to navigate EHR and communication technology (AthenaOne, Salesforce, Slack workflows, PagerDuty, TalkDesk).
  • Strong organizational skills to balance competing priorities during periods of high or provider OOO coverage.
