Reddit has quietly become one of the most trusted places on the internet. Before people buy almost anything today, they go to Reddit for honest, unfiltered opinions from real people, and those threads consistently rank at the top of Google. For a brand, that is a large opportunity and a real risk at the same time. Most brands have no idea how to show up. The ones that try usually get it wrong. They spam a few subreddits, watch their posts get removed and end up hurting the reputation they came to build.

We take the opposite approach. Everything we do is white-hat and fully in the open. We represent a brand as itself, or as a named member of its team, and we earn attention by being genuinely useful in the conversations that matter. No fake accounts and no pretending to be someone we are not.

Our work for a client comes in two halves. First, we join the conversations that are already happening across their space: people asking for recommendations, weighing them against competitors, describing the exact problem the brand solves and gathering in the subreddits where their customers already spend time. Second, we build the brand a home of its own. We set up, grow and run a subreddit that becomes their community over time. Our proprietary platform does the monitoring and prioritization behind both. Real people do the writing and the judgment, and that human part is where you come in.

THE ROLE

As the Reddit Community Manager for this client, you own their presence on Reddit. You run their disclosed Reddit account, you post as a named member of their team, and you are the voice that represents them in the communities that matter to them.

This is not paid advertising. It is earning a trusted place in a community, on behalf of a brand you would be proud to represent. Doing it well starts with understanding the client deeply: what they sell, who buys it and how they talk about themselves. From there, you use our platform to surface every conversation worth joining, and you bring the Reddit judgment for how to show up the right way once you are in it.

The objective is simple to state and hard to earn: make the brand a welcome, trusted member of the communities it belongs in, and build genuine goodwill around it over months, not days.

This role is for one client in international payroll and global employment. They help companies hire and legally employ people in other countries without opening a local entity, and they run the contracts, payroll, taxes and local compliance underneath.

It is a genuinely good Reddit category, and an underworked one. Communities like r/Payroll, r/humanresources, r/remotework and r/smallbusiness are full of companies asking which provider to use, what it actually costs per employee, whether they need a local entity at all, and how badly they will get burned if they classify someone wrong. Those threads rank at the top of Google, above the vendors' own comparison pages, and they are what AI answers cite. We have mapped 288 of them for this client, with about 15 new ones landing every month.

The competition is barely there. Most providers in this space own a Reddit handle and have never used it. The category leader has had a verified account since 2009 with zero posts. So the ground is open, and the honest, useful answer to "who should I actually use" is mostly not being given by anyone.

The most valuable thing you can do is answer the unglamorous questions well: whether a provider holds a deposit against your payroll, what an entity actually costs to open in Germany versus just using a provider, what happens to your people if the provider gets it wrong. This is a category where being specific and a bit self-critical earns more trust than any pitch.

This is a specific, active role rather than an open application. The client is signed and goes live on September 15, so we are looking to bring someone on right away.

WHAT THE WORK ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

The work comes in four parts, and for this client it comes to about 31 hours a month, so roughly 8 hours a week.

• Setting up the accounts. Unlike most of our clients, this one already holds their Reddit handles, so there is no warming an account from zero. One gets activated, and you help stand up a second account in the name of a member of their team, which is the voice most of the work goes out under.
• Community engagement. This is the core and it is about 80% of the work. You work from a prioritized thread queue our platform ranks for you, so you are not scrolling Reddit all day, and you show up in the ones that matter: commenting, posting and running the occasional AMA on the brand's behalf, including the threads where your brand is being compared or talked about negatively. Everything is disclosed, and it is approved before it goes live. When a high-priority thread breaks, you are in it fast, ideally within the hour and at the latest within 24 hours. That speed is the one hard expectation of the role.
• Community growth. Around month four you start preparing the client's own subreddit, and it opens around month five, once the accounts have earned enough standing to make it worth inviting people to. You build and run it from there.
• Community intelligence. You are our eyes on the ground. Because you live in these communities, you flag what buyers are really saying and what is worth acting on, which feeds the monthly intelligence we deliver to the client.

A note on the subreddits in this space: most of the good ones restrict posting, so part of the craft here is working with moderators rather than around them. We ask first. That is slower and it is the reason our content stays up.

Outside of the high-priority moments, there is no set schedule. The hours are yours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Deep Reddit knowledge. You know the culture cold: what earns traction and what gets removed.
• A marketing background of some kind: content, social media, SEO or AEO/GEO. Agency experience is a plus.
• Real enthusiasm for the brand you would represent. The best work happens when you genuinely care about the product and the people who use it. (There are questions about this when you apply, and I read them closely.)
• Genuine knowledge of international payroll, employer of record, global hiring or HR operations is a real plus, and honestly the thing most likely to get you this role. If you have worked in payroll, people ops, HR tech or global employment, or you have been the person at a company who had to figure out how to hire someone in another country, say so. That is close to the perfect background here. You do not need to already know Reddit inside out if you know this space cold.
• You write like a person, not a marketer, and you are comfortable putting your name to a brand out in the open.

Compensation: $1,638 a month, paid monthly, plus a bonus of up to $327 a month paid quarterly.

That covers about 31 hours a month of Reddit work. On top of that, plan for up to 8 hours a month of meetings, with times agreed in advance, so there is no need to be at your desk nine to five.

It is freelance, a 1099 contractor arrangement in the US, with no health benefits. The contract term is 6 months, and likely longer if the client renews. This is one client on this desk and more follow, each paid the same way on top of this one.

Start date: September 8, 2026.

Location: Fully remote, wherever you are. Our client and our team are in North America, so the meetings will likely occur during North American business hours.
