QA Engineering Manager to build a QA automation function from scratch. Hands-on player-coach: hire and lead the team while writing automated tests, building framework components, and reviewing code. Remote Canada role with North America working hours.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead a dedicated QA automation function from the ground up
  • Choose the tooling, set the standards, hire the team, and define how AI fits into how SpryPoint tests
  • Split time roughly 50/50 between leading the team and doing hands-on QA automation work
  • Set direction, hire, and coach the QA automation team
  • Write automated tests, build framework components, and review code
  • Lead by example and stay close enough to the code to make sound calls and earn the trust of the engineers you lead
  • Partner with the Principal AI Engineer and AI team to understand existing AI tools and practices
  • Work with engineering teams to understand current QA practices and define how QA and engineering will collaborate going forward
  • Confirm prerequisites including environments, CI/CD, and critical user journeys
  • Select tooling and framework
  • Stand up a proof-of-concept suite on the highest-risk flows
  • Deliver a working, trusted automation suite on critical flows by the end of year one
  • Build a small high-performing team
  • Deliver a quality metrics dashboard in active use
  • Create a clear plan for AI adoption
