Experienced quality and risk professional with strong New Zealand tertiary education experience. Must know quality assurance, assessment/moderation, compliance, NZQA requirements and the NZ tertiary regulatory environment. Full-time 12-month fixed-term, fully remote from anywhere in NZ.

What you'll do

  • Strengthen quality, assessment and risk practices across faculties and campuses.
  • Work closely with academic and operational leaders.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance across quality assurance, compliance, governance, assessment, moderation and risk.
  • Identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Support teams to embed sustainable quality practices that lead to strong outcomes for ākonga.
  • Provide oversight of assessment and moderation practices.
  • Identify potential gaps or risks.
  • Support appropriate improvement and remediation activity.
  • Contribute to wider quality and risk initiatives, self-assessment activities and projects designed to strengthen organisational performance and capability.
  • Balance assurance and accountability with coaching, influence and practical support.

What they require

  • Experienced Quality and Risk Business Partner.
  • Strong experience within the tertiary education sector.
  • Confident working across quality assurance, assessment, moderation, compliance and risk.
  • Comfortable building trusted relationships with academic and operational leaders.
  • Prepared to challenge practice constructively when improvement is needed.
  • Demonstrated experience in the New Zealand tertiary education sector, ideally within a PTE, ITP, wānanga, university or multi-campus provider.
  • Strong experience in quality assurance, academic quality, programme management, assessment, moderation or regulatory compliance.
  • Practical experience with pre- and post-assessment moderation and reviewing the quality of assessment practice.
  • A strong understanding of NZQA requirements and the New Zealand tertiary regulatory environment.
  • Experience identifying quality or compliance gaps and developing practical improvement or remediation plans.
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing and communication skills.
  • Confidence using evidence and data to support sound decision-making.
  • A tertiary qualification in any discipline.
  • Pragmatic, solutions-focused and highly organised.
  • Confidence to navigate sensitive or contested matters calmly and objectively.
  • Collaborative and culturally responsive approach.
  • Balance assurance and accountability with support and capability building.
