Quality and Risk Business Partner Location: Fully remote - anywhere in NZ Full-time | Fixed-term | Remote Note: this is a fixed-term opportunity for 12 months, on a full-time basis. Work is fully remote so we are open to applicants from anywhere in NZ, but advantageous if based near one of our campuses. About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Quality and Risk Business Partner to join us on a 12-month fixed-term basis and help strengthen quality, assessment and risk practices across our faculties and campuses. Working closely with academic and operational leaders, you’ll provide practical advice and guidance across quality assurance, compliance, governance, assessment, moderation and risk. You’ll help identify areas for improvement, develop pragmatic solutions and support teams to embed sustainable quality practices that lead to strong outcomes for ākonga. A key focus of the role will be providing oversight of assessment and moderation practices, identifying potential gaps or risks, and supporting appropriate improvement and remediation activity. You’ll also contribute to wider quality and risk initiatives, self-assessment activities and projects designed to strengthen organisational performance and capability. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll balance assurance and accountability with coaching, influence and practical support.
About You You’ll bring strong experience within the tertiary education sector and be confident working across quality assurance, assessment, moderation, compliance and risk. You’ll be comfortable building trusted relationships with academic and operational leaders, while also being prepared to challenge practice constructively when improvement is needed. To be successful in this role, you’ll need: Demonstrated experience in the New Zealand tertiary education sector, ideally within a PTE, ITP, wānanga, university or multi-campus provider Strong experience in quality assurance, academic quality, programme management, assessment, moderation or regulatory compliance Practical experience with pre- and post-assessment moderation and reviewing the quality of assessment practice A strong understanding of NZQA requirements and the New Zealand tertiary regulatory environment Experience identifying quality or compliance gaps and developing practical improvement or remediation plans Strong relationship-building, influencing and communication skills Confidence using evidence and data to support sound decision-making A tertiary qualification in any discipline You’ll also be pragmatic, solutions-focused and highly organised, with the confidence to navigate sensitive or contested matters calmly and objectively. You’ll bring a collaborative and culturally responsive approach, balancing assurance and accountability with support and capability building.
