What you'll do

  • Design and execute black-box tests for complex scenarios of MaxScale filters and routers.
  • Review and verify product documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Act as technical point of contact for escalated customer issues, working with support to verify problems and isolate root causes.
  • Create representative test cases to assist the development team in resolving bugs.
  • Might contribute code fixes as you become familiar with MaxScale codebase.
  • Coordinate four maintenance releases per year across five active MaxScale series, ensuring all builds and packages are verified.
  • Monitor and maintain the automated build system, troubleshooting build failures and managing dependencies in VM environments.
  • Manage and troubleshoot creation of DEB and RPM packages for various Linux distributions.
  • Develop proficiency in BuildBot (Python) to independently modify and improve the build pipeline.

What they require

  • A good working knowledge of C++ for test development and understanding the codebase.
  • Proficiency in Python is required for build automation and scripting.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and experience with database management systems, preferably MariaDB or MySQL.
  • Experience with Linux environments, including proficiency in DEB and RPM packaging and repository management.
  • Practical experience with Jenkins/GitLab/etc. (CI/CD).
  • Experience in black-box testing and troubleshooting complex software interactions.
  • Experience using Virtual Machines and cloud platforms for building and testing software.
  • Analytical: capable of reproducing bugs and diagnosing build/packaging failures.
  • Detail-Oriented: disciplined verification that documentation matches software behavior.
  • Collaborative: communicate effectively with support teams and customers.
  • Self-Directed: motivated to learn and manage internal infrastructure.
