What you'll do

  • Own the system test plan covering functional, integration, performance, and load testing, and maintain it as a formal deliverable.
  • Translate the acceptance criteria set by product into executable tests.
  • Review acceptance criteria with product before development begins and identify ambiguous or non-verifiable requirements.
  • Hold engineering, platform, and partner teams accountable to the acceptance criteria and define required evidence before changes are complete.
  • Work alongside the engineering team day to day while remaining independent in reporting test results.
  • Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing with the customer, and track findings through to resolution.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites and integrate them into the CI/CD pipeline as release gates.
  • Establish and enforce an automated coverage standard, and report against it.
  • Build performance and load testing that validates the system under expected user load.
  • Maintain regression coverage across releases.
  • Build and maintain labeled evaluation sets with subject-matter experts.
  • Design and run sampled audits confirming automated decisions were correct.
  • Measure and report what the system misses and what it gets right.
  • Measure user override rate and report trends.
  • Document how each committed measure is computed, including data sources and release evidence.
  • Produce evidence independently from the implementation teams.
  • Maintain version inventory across builds, models, configurations, and thresholds.
  • Produce test reports, evaluation records, and rollback criteria for each release.
  • Work with platform engineering to confirm test environments match production closely enough for meaningful results.
  • Hold the gate so no release ships without required evidence and acceptance criteria completion.

What they require

  • 5+ years in software quality engineering, test automation, or software engineering with substantial dedicated test ownership.
  • A clear point of view on how testing should be done and judgment to keep practices rigorous.
  • Strong coding ability in a language and framework used for test automation (for example, Python with pytest, or JavaScript or TypeScript with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).
  • Ability to read and reason about the application code under test.
  • Routine use of AI-assisted development with informed judgment about validation and limits.
  • Demonstrated experience building automated test suites and integrating them into CI/CD as release gates.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a test plan through review and acceptance.
  • Demonstrated habit of testing against requirements rather than implementation, including working with product owners/end users on correctness.
  • Experience with performance and load testing, including interpreting results.
  • Working statistical literacy, including sampling design and understanding confidence limits.
  • Experience measuring misses as well as hits of automated systems.
  • Willingness to report results the team did not want and keep measurement independent of builders.
  • Ability to gate work owned by people outside direct reporting line and maintain credibility with engineers.
  • Clear, audit-ready written documentation.
  • Willingness to hold a release and justify why it is blocked or delayed.
  • Active US Secret clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active favorable investigation and CAC eligibility required from start.
  • Active clearance and strong security requirements with elevated access context in controlled government cloud.
  • Preferred: Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: Experience in DevSecOps, RMF, or ATO environments and producing test evidence for formal accreditation or audit.
  • Preferred: Contract and API testing, test data management, and buildable test infrastructure for extension.
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-assisted testing methods to keep generated tests meaningful.
  • Preferred: Performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Locust.
  • Preferred: Evaluation of machine learning/model output including groundedness/citation checking and analyzing user disagreement with recommendations.
  • Preferred: Experience in domains where incorrect outputs carry real-world cost and external review requirements exist.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with responsible AI governance practices including model cards and NIST AI RMF.
  • Preferred: Experience with Section 508 and WCAG verification.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, bonus, and equity package (100% employer paid).
  • Comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision for you and your family.
  • Unlimited PTO, with manager approval.
  • Flexible work environment where you manage your work day.
  • 14 weeks of fully-paid parental leave.
