QA Automation Engineer (Core banking)

About the role: You'll strengthen QA coverage across Salmon's Core banking systems — tariffs, deposits, B2B payments — through hands-on testing and Kotlin-based API automation. What you'll do:

• Test core banking systems spanning tariffs, deposits, B2B payments, and other backend financial flows.
• Run manual and automated testing across APIs, databases, backend services, and integrations.
• Extend our existing Kotlin-based automation framework, adding new tests by following established patterns.

What you'll own:

• Design, maintain, and execute test cases for new functionality and regression scenarios across core banking systems.
• Validate APIs, backend integrations, business rules, calculations, transaction flows, and data consistency.
• Analyze logs, database records, and system behavior to identify, reproduce, and document defects.
• Build and maintain API automated tests using the existing Kotlin-based framework.
• Partner with developers, analysts, product, and DevOps to investigate defects and improve test coverage.
• Contribute to test documentation, regression coverage, and quality processes as the product scope grows.

What makes you a strong fit:

• 3+ years of experience in QA automation on backend/API-focused systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with manual API and backend testing.
• Experience with integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of backend systems.
• Experience writing and running SQL queries for data validation.
• Ability to work with Kotlin and contribute to existing automated test suites.
• Experience testing financial systems, payment systems, or other transactional products.

Good to have:

• Experience with core banking, deposits, tariffs, fees, billing, payments, or lending products.
• Experience maintaining API automation in Kotlin or Java.
• Experience testing applications at financial institutions.
