MD/DO psychiatrist with 4+ years post-doctoral experience including psychiatric residency, licensed in all states where the company provides services, eligible for board certification, and holding an unrestricted DEA license. Telehealth crisis care, PRN. Must be fully vaccinated.

What you'll do

  • Psychiatric evaluations and assessments, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, ordering testing, engagement, family meetings, supportive psychotherapy, individual education, court ordered evaluations, risk assessment and discharge planning
  • Provide support and direct clinical supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants while on duty
  • Complete initial full psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, individual education, progress toward treatment goals, and discharge planning
  • Document individual’s progress in the clinical record in progress notes
  • Write orders related to the individual treatment plan, including admission orders, discharge orders, and medication administration orders
  • Oversee delivery of medication education and consent, according to established policy
  • Order laboratory tests according to standards of clinical practice
  • Review the health assessments completed by nursing staff
  • Obtain a past and current medical history, and conduct a focused physical examination as indicated
  • Initiate contact with Primary Care Physicians and Emergency Room clinicians according to professional standards
  • Assess individuals’ needs and guide the clinical team while managing treatment plan updates
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to ensure each treatment modality is appropriate
  • Work closely with local medical leaders to ensure involuntary and voluntary processes are operating optimally
  • Escalate complicated cases to the appropriate medical director as needed
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, including providing or attending clinical didactics and providing direct supervision to advanced practitioners, students, residents, and other clinical staff
  • Participate in medical staff meetings including regional and quarterly meetings
  • Conduct emergency examinations within a timely manner
  • Be available for telephone/video consultation while on duty
  • May be called to testify in court following filing of the affidavit; testimony may take place via audio-visual platform while on shift
  • Collaborate with on-site Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who provide 24/7 coverage
  • Be available at all times to evaluate patient conditions, prescribe treatments, and provide ongoing consultation to NPs and PAs

What they require

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • 4 years of post-doctoral experience, to include approved psychiatric residency training programs, in the delivery of mental health treatment of adults, children, and/or adolescents
  • Licensed by all State Medical Boards in which Connections Health Solutions provides services
  • Eligible for Board Certification
  • Unrestricted DEA license
  • Fully vaccinated (mandatory vaccination policy)
  • Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials
