What you'll do

  • Engage early in the pre-sales cycle on strategic and enterprise pursuits, before the solution is shaped rather than after.
  • Run technical discovery and qualification alongside Commercial, and lead product-focused pitches as the senior technical voice in the room.
  • Work hand in glove with Solutions Design across the full proposal, not only the custom portion, and own the technical narrative in RFPs and executive conversations.
  • Own the demo landscape across standard, brand-specific, and strategic custom environments, kept current with the roadmap so what we show matches what we ship.
  • Partner with Solutions Design on large or custom proposals, and with Client Services on the account roadmap.
  • Use AI tooling to compress the path from discovery to working prototype, so clients see something real in days rather than weeks.
  • Translate client goals into a scoped, credible Ascend solution and a client-level implementation roadmap.
  • Scope integrations, data flows, and architecture live in client conversations, with an accurate read on feasibility and effort.
  • Decide what is built bespoke versus pushed into the platform, so custom work compounds into product rather than debt.
  • Surface new features and integrations out of client conversations and bring them back sized.
  • Prototype during discovery, then harden the solution into a scalable, maintainable deployment.
  • Translate ambiguous or incomplete requirements into concrete technical specifications and working software.
  • Create the reusable assets and AI-assisted workflows that make solutioning repeatable rather than dependent on one person.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between Commercial, clients, Product, and Engineering, keeping what we sell aligned with what we ship.
  • Own the technical solution end to end so Client Services can stay focused on the relationship.
  • Feed field reality into the roadmap so recurring client needs become standard product capability.
  • Define the scope and hiring bar for Forward Deployed Engineers as we add them, with the opportunity to lead that team as the function proves out.

What they require

  • 6+ years in solutions architecture, sales engineering, solutions consulting, or forward-deployed engineering, ideally in SaaS or pharma technology.
  • Operates with full autonomy as the subject matter expert in the room on the most complex and strategic pursuits
  • Proven track record leading technical discovery and running custom demos inside enterprise pre-sales cycles, credible with senior client stakeholders.
  • Hands-on technical depth: able to scope feasibility, prototype, and build, not only specify.
  • Appetite to grow into leading and mentoring individual contributors while staying hands-on yourself.
  • Product mindset, with clear judgment on when a client need is one-off custom work and when it should become durable platform capability.
  • AI-forward in how you work: fluent with AI tooling for prototyping, research, and delivery, and clear-eyed about where AI belongs in a client solution and where it does not.
  • Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences, from engineers to client executives, and comfortable operating with ambiguity at high-growth pace.
  • Preferred: Experience in pharma commercial, market access, or HCP engagement is a strong plus, as is having helped stand up a solutions or sales engineering function.
