What you'll do

  • Develop, revise, and maintain Piping/Process/Ventillation & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant3D or equivalent CAD software.
  • Produce piping layout drawings, equipment arrangement drawings, piping and equipment isometrics, and general arrangement drawings for process facilities.
  • Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, structural, and nuclear engineers to ensure drawing consistency across disciplines.
  • Incorporate engineering changes into controlled drawing packages while maintaining revision history and configuration management.
  • Assist with development of drawing standards, CAD libraries, drafting procedures, and document templates.
  • Perform drawing quality checks to identify inconsistencies, clashes, missing information, and opportunities for design improvement.
  • Generate engineering documentation including bills of materials, equipment lists, line lists, and drawing packages supporting procurement and construction.
  • Interface with fabricators, vendors, and construction teams to clarify drawings and incorporate field feedback into design revisions.
  • Help establish efficient drafting workflows that support rapid design iteration within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

What they require

  • Associate's degree, technical certification, or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5+ years of experience producing engineering drawings for industrial facilities or process equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Experience producing piping layouts, equipment arrangement drawings, and construction drawing packages.
  • Understanding of industrial piping systems, valves, instrumentation, and process equipment.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards, revision control, and document management practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Passionate about clean energy and closing the nuclear fuel cycle.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, producing accurate, professional engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software for industrial facility design.
  • Experienced with piping and process documentation including P&IDs, piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and construction drawing packages for industrial facilities.
  • Comfortable working from incomplete information and collaborating with engineers to develop evolving designs.
  • Able to identify drawing inconsistencies and improve documentation quality before release.
  • Excited to work on first-of-a-kind industrial facilities where designs evolve rapidly through prototyping and testing.
  • Comfortable working across multiple engineering disciplines and balancing competing priorities.

  • Oklo requires remote employees to travel to headquarters (Santa Clara, CA) twice a quarter annually, based on business or team needs, including attendance at team meetings, off-sites, and other company events or gatherings.
  • For the first two weeks of onboarding, employees are required to be in person at headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.

  • Candidates should be aware that employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening, and employees may be subject to drug testing at any time in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Preferred: Experience creating piping assemblies, equipment layouts, or plant models in 3D CAD environments.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with process plant design in nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, mining, pharmaceutical, or power generation industries.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting facility design from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, or equivalent industrial standards.
  • Preferred: Experience using PDM/PLM systems and engineering document control systems.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of instrumentation symbols, ISA standards, and process control documentation.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting multidisciplinary design reviews, HAZOPs, or constructability reviews.
  • Preferred: Experience with commercial or governmental nuclear projects.
  • Preferred: Experience working in highly regulated industries with strong quality assurance and configuration management requirements.
