What you'll do

  • Provide direct patient care in a clinical setting, focusing on evidence-based obesity treatment and chronic weight management.
  • The physician will have their own panel and will collaborate with Registered Dietitians.
  • In the future, this physician role will be responsible for chart reviews and conduct return visits for APP patients every third visit to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Provide treatment planning and medical management support for complex cases or escalated concerns.
  • Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications for patients under direct care
  • Ensure clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently within the team.
  • Assist in the professional development of APPs by fostering clinical growth, offering feedback, and supporting continuing education.
  • This role could include APP collaboration and supervision responsibilities.
  • Participate in team-based care initiatives and contribute to a culture of collaboration and high-quality care.
  • Attend relevant departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts within the obesity medicine program.

What they require

  • MD or DO degree with board certification; must be an American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) diplomate, or board certified in Endocrinology
  • Are licensed to practice and prescribe legally in ALABAMA, MISSOURI or MISSISSIPPI .
  • This position requires multi-state practice capability.
  • Applicants must either already hold a valid Letter of Qualification (LOQ) through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) or meet all prerequisites to rapidly secure one upon hire
  • Current or previous credentialing with insurance payers is desired, but not required
  • Are or have in the past credentialed with insurance payers (strong preference for multiple state licenses!)
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
  • Are committed to the highest quality of medical care and an evidence-based approach to obesity management
  • Have prior experience conducting telemedicine visits and who have a great "web-side" manner
  • Have prior experience working collaboratively with advanced practice professionals and registered dietitians
