What you'll do

  • Process and assess new post-treatment pet insurance claims through the internal claims portal, including completing final checks before approval.
  • Review claim information, medical notes, medical history, treatment notes, treatment plans, invoices, and supporting documentation to ensure details are accurate, complete, and consistent.
  • Be like a pet vet.
  • Apply veterinary knowledge and clinical judgement in claim assessment.
  • Collect accurate information and documentation required to proceed with pet claims.
  • Identify inaccurate, incomplete, missing, or inconsistent information when reviewing claims and follow up where required.
  • Identify any reasons why a claim may not be payable under policy terms, procedures, or relevant exclusions.
  • Recommend claims for payment in line with claim policies and procedures.
  • Support fair settlement of claims by applying veterinary knowledge, policy requirements, and attention to detail.
  • Provide veterinary and technical advice to the claims team.
  • Maintain accurate claim records, assessment notes, and documentation.
  • Attend remote meetings, training sessions, and team discussions as required.

What they require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine is essential.
  • Veterinary Doctor qualification is highly preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in veterinary medicine, small animal veterinary practice, pet claims assessment, insurance claims, veterinary administration, animal health, or a similar role is required.
  • Strong veterinary knowledge in treating animals and animal conditions is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret medical notes, medical history, treatment notes, treatment plans, invoices, and veterinary documentation required.
  • Previous pet insurance claims experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide clear veterinary and technical advice.
  • Experience using CRM systems, claims systems, or the ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work remotely.
  • Willingness to work with an inclusive culture and dedicated managers.
