YOUR OPPORTUNITY

The Open Wing Alliance (OWA), a program of The Humane League, is a global coalition of approximately 90 animal protection organizations across 70+ countries united in a common goal: to end the abuse of chickens worldwide. For the past several years, we have focused our efforts in Europe on eliminating battery cages and increasing uptake of the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) by securing corporate commitments from major retailers, restaurants, and manufacturers. OWA groups share tactics and resources to secure as many wins for animals as possible, specializing in institutional campaigning that can be tailored to our members’ unique circumstances and challenges.

As the OWA Europe Corporate Strategy Lead, you will serve as a key subject matter expert on corporate campaigning and outreach within the European region. You will guide OWA member groups from strategic alignment through to active campaign execution, supporting them in developing and implementing effective, context-specific corporate campaigns. This includes providing strategic guidance, coaching, and training, as well as helping groups troubleshoot challenges, build campaign knowledge and skills, and maintain campaign momentum across the animal protection movement in Europe.

In this role, you will contribute to regional campaign strategy development while taking ownership of driving execution through OWA member groups. You will build high-trust relationships, strengthen campaign capacity across the network, and support groups in translating strategies into tangible, high impact campaigns on the ground driving measurable progress for animals. You will also develop resources and deliver trainings that enable groups to operate more independently and effectively over time.

We are looking for an experienced campaigner and strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to move work from planning into action. You are excited about collaborating with organizations and diverse stakeholders across Europe, and are committed to advancing animal welfare through corporate engagement and campaigning. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director of OWA, Europe.

This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires domestic and international travel, equivalent to 6 or more trips per year, and requires a valid, up-to-date passport. This position can be based in Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Türkiye, and Poland. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in one of these countries and reside in that country while undertaking this role. To enable collaboration with other global team members, this role requires hours outside of 9am-5pm at least two working days per week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide OWA member groups in Europe with strategic guidance on corporate campaign development, and support the translation of strategy into active campaign execution. Ensuring local campaign actions align with regional priorities, goals, and opportunities.

Coach and support groups to build capacity to independently execute high-impact campaigns, while maintaining momentum and sustainability.

Collaborate with groups to identify challenges, troubleshoot issues, and overcome bottlenecks to maintain campaign momentum.

Support the adaptation of campaign strategies and tactics to different local and regional contexts. Empower groups to take creative action and innovate their campaign strategies in a sustainable way.

Lead in-person and virtual trainings on corporate campaigning and corporate outreach.

Develop and maintain resources and training materials that strengthen campaign effectiveness, resilience, and autonomy across the network.

Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with OWA member groups, acting as a strategic partner and catalyst for action.

Identify opportunities for knowledge sharing and power building across the OWA member groups and the movement to increase learning across the region and effectively leverage strategic successes.

In addition to the above essential job duties, other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include non-essential, marginal job duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience : Previous experience with corporate pressure campaigns, corporate engagement, and/or corporate negotiations, including involvement in campaign strategy development and execution.

Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving: Ability to assess complex situations, identify opportunities, and develop practical, context-aware solutions aligned with broader strategic goals. Applies sound judgment in balancing competing priorities and adapting approaches based on evolving circumstances, escalating issues to senior leaders when necessary, and seeks additional perspectives and expertise to guide complex, high-stakes decisions.

Driving Execution & Accountability: Ability to move work from planning to action by maintaining focus, overcoming obstacles, and supporting OWA groups in delivering results.

This position will be eligible for an attractive hiring bonus equivalent to 10% of gross annual salary. 50% of the bonus is payable in the first month's salary and 50% is payable after successful completion of the probationary period. The hiring bonus will comply with local laws and, therefore, may be subject to applicable local taxes.

To determine a job's level, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including a job's size and complexity, required experience, knowledge, and/or skills, internal comparability, and market data. Candidates whose experience places them at step 5 or above of their job level within our compensation structure will be awarded a “Senior” title designation.
