What you'll do

  • Apply expertise in OSP fiber administration practices to maintain and enhance the fiber network.
  • Analyze OTDR testing to assess fiber optic cable integrity and analyze test results to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize GIS-based fiber management systems for network planning and updates.
  • Review construction as-built drawings and maintain accurate and up-to-date network records.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth coordination of tasks and deliverables.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all tasks are prioritized and completed within deadlines.
  • Monitor OKRs and dashboards to track project progress and outcomes.
  • Review and edit splice matrices for accuracy and verify new scopes of work.
  • Maintain data integrity across software tooling systems.
  • Organize and lead meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members as needed.
  • Utilize software tools such as FIM, ACC, Gaudi, Ultron, and Glasswork where applicable.
  • Stay informed on emerging tools and technologies relevant to OSP engineering.
  • Create and maintain detailed records, including MOPs, SOWs, SOPs, and job aids.
  • Provide regular updates and documentation for project progress and outcomes.

What they require

  • Minimum 4 years field experience or Bachelor’s Degree in either Telecommunications Engineering, IT or related field.
  • Associate Degree or Certification (Minimum Requirement): Fiber Optics Technology Networking and Communications Electronics Engineering Technology.
  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent certifications from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA) is highly desirable.
  • OTDR Testing Certification is highly desirable.
  • GIS Certification for advanced GIS-based management systems is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Certification, e.g. PMP or CAPM, for handling multiple projects is highly desirable.
  • Safety Certifications, such as OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training relevant to construction and OSP environments, are highly desirable.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of telecommunications industry standards, e.g. ITU-T, ANSI, and IEEE.
  • Expertise in fiber optic cables and troubleshooting high losses and failures.
  • Expertise in fiber administration practices.
  • Knowledge of OTDR testing and its application in fiber optic cable testing and associated analysis.
  • Experience with GIS-based fiber management systems and the ability to read construction as-built drawings and maintain records.
  • Excellent communication skills with internal xfn’s and external vendors, including managing vendor relationships and task and coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and OKR and dashboard management.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reviewing and editing splice matrices, verifying new scope, and maintaining data integrity in software tooling systems.
  • Ability to lead and organize meetings, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and provide guidance to other team members.
  • Familiarity with various fiber software tools.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements related to OSP work.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to OSP work, including MOPs, SOWs, SOPs, and Job-Aids.
  • Proficiency in multiple ticketing systems.
