What you'll do

  • Develop and execute a five-year strategic automation roadmap to outline long-term investment opportunities.
  • Define the technical scope for MG-NA automation projects, including AGVs, robotics, and cobots.
  • Lead and coordinate complex, long-term engineering projects from inception to completion within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
  • Act as a technical mentor, providing guidance and coaching to site-level technical teams on automation solutions.
  • Partner with international regions to benchmark and transfer best-in-class Avery Dennison automation solutions worldwide.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on major contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel and internal leadership.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across receiving, storage, material handling, coating, finishing, and shipping.

What they require

  • To be successful in this Senior Specialist role, you must possess in-depth knowledge and experience in your specialty.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related scientific field is required.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of engineering, research, or scientific experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 4+ years with a Master’s degree).
  • Strong background in industrial electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; must be able to complete difficult technical assignments without immediate supervision.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD to develop and update complex drawings (P&IDs, PFDs).
  • Experience with MS Project or Smartsheet for project tracking.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Six Sigma and ELS (Avery Dennison's Enterprise Lean Sigma) principles.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes and capital equipment purchasing.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestic and international, based on business needs.
  • Demonstrate Self-Leadership by displaying agility in changing circumstances, championing collaboration across functional teams, and delivering high-quality results despite obstacles.
