Manual QA Engineer (Mobile)

BCD Travel is a leading travel management company dedicated to providing exceptional travel experiences through innovative mobile applications. Our mobile app TripSource, built primarily in React Native, offers travelers a seamless platform to plan, book, and manage their journeys.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manual QA Engineer to join our talented team and contribute to the development of our product with a strong quality assurance perspective.Position OverviewAs a Senior Manual QA Tester at BCD Travel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the TripSource mobile app.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, product managers, and other QA testers, to identify issues, drive improvements, and deliver a flawless user experience. Beyond traditional QA responsibilities, you will actively participate in the product development process, bringing valuable insights and contributing to discussions from a quality assurance standpoint.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive manual testing of our React Native mobile app to identify, report, and track defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues across various devices and operating systems.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts, focusing on both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with development teams to understand project requirements, design specifications, and technical documentation to ensure effective testing coverage.
• Participate in design and architecture discussions, providing valuable input from a QA perspective to help identify potential pitfalls, usability challenges, and quality enhancements.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of QA processes and practices, advocating for best practices, automation opportunities, and continuous quality enhancement.
• Actively engage in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to provide insights on quality issues, progress, and potential roadblocks.
• Work closely with the product management team to understand user stories, use cases, and user personas, ensuring that QA efforts align with the overall product vision.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure the app’s visual elements, user interfaces, and user experiences are aligned with design specifications and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in manual quality assurance testing, with a focus on mobile applications.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies, testing techniques, and software development lifecycles.
• Experience with writing and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using issue tracking tools.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong desire to actively contribute to the product development process and influence decisions from a QA perspective.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Prior experience in the travel industry or working on travel-related applications is advantageous but not required.
• Experienced and comfortable working with POSTMAN to execute tests and help debug, as well as to test the backend parts of features being exposed through the mobile app
• Experienced and comfortable with using Charles Proxy or equivalent Proxy services to test and review API calls being made by the mobile app
