What you'll do

  • Lead a cross-functional team of backend and iOS engineers focused on outcomes over outputs, using data and experimentation to drive MFP's product strategy.
  • Lead the team to deliver significant growth on top of mission-critical payments platforms.
  • Cultivate an environment where engineers thrive and collaborate effectively with Product and Design to achieve their goals.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design, leveraging qualitative and quantitative tools to explore Growth solutions across mobile and web apps.
  • Ensure strong technical decision-making grounded in product context for continued success implementing new growth and monetization strategies.
  • Take a hands-on approach to delivery management, ensuring the backlog is healthy, maintenance and tech debt work are scheduled, and work is broken down appropriately and on time.
  • Coach and develop the team, investing in individuals while keeping team health top-of-mind.
  • Model kindness, empathy, positive intent, and support for teammates and members.
  • Champion healthy habits and balance in how the team works and what it ships.
  • Ground decisions in research and data and measure what matters.
  • Lean into ambiguity, iterate, learn, and improve continuously.
  • Raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go.
  • Bias to action and deliver impact with craft and accountability.

What they require

  • 4+ years experience leading engineering teams in close partnership with Product and Design, working iteratively with a deep focus on customer outcomes.
  • Strong analytical focus and comfort working through tricky A/B testing and data attribution challenges, ideally in a Growth domain.
  • Experience building highly available third-party integrations that process high-volume data, ideally in a subscription domain.
  • Experience leading consumer-facing development work focused on native apps using iterative, learning-focused agile methodologies.
  • Strong technical and product judgment, including framing engineering investments as business outcomes and bringing that perspective into cross-functional planning and roadmap discussions.
  • Experience developing high-trust engineering teams through mentorship and coaching, setting clear goals, context, and decision-making frameworks while empowering engineers to own technical execution and tradeoff discussions.
  • Knowledge of common software engineering patterns and best practices.
  • Experience with high-traffic mobile applications and building for scale while balancing speed, quality, and safety.
  • Preferred: Prior software engineering experience focused on native Apple applications.
