What you'll do

  • Understand complex application systems and debug business-impacting issues.
  • Use incident management processes and tools, application monitoring metrics and tooling to generate reports and take corrective actions.
  • Leverage knowledge of different logging techniques for alerting, monitoring and identifying the root cause of incidents.
  • Follow standards and best practices to bring operational efficiencies, stability and availability of the system.
  • Lead the planning and execution of system upgrades, migrations and maintenance activities, minimizing downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Use continuous delivery practices to evolve and support high-quality software, and bring value to end customers as early as possible while working in collaborative, value-driven teams to build innovative customer experiences for clients.
  • Efficiently use DevOps tools and practices to deploy and run software.
  • Act as a mentor for less-experienced peers through technical knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Apply the latest technology thinking from Thoughtworks Technology Radar to solve client problems.

What they require

  • Experience working in languages such as Java and front end React framework.
  • Good understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience working with application monitoring tools such as DataDog, Prometheus or Grafana, understanding the different metrics that go with it and ability to generate reports and take corrective actions.
  • Experience working with a relational or non-relational database.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github, Actions, Buildkite or Azure pipelines.
  • Must possess strong debugging and triaging skills to troubleshoot code effectively.
  • Ability to ensure that deliverables, namely bug fixes and enhancements to the existing codebase, are high-quality and well-tested.
  • Ability to conduct system performance analysis, identify bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to enhance system efficiency.
  • Ability to do predictive analysis and come up with proactive identification of issues working with development teams.
  • High-level understanding of various architectures such as monolithic, N-tier, layered, microservices and serverless.
  • Enjoy influencing others and always advocate for technical excellence while being open to change, when needed.
  • Good communication and articulation skills.
  • Presence in the external tech community and willingness to share expertise with others via speaking engagements, contributions to open source, blogs and more.
  • Resilient in ambiguous situations and able to approach challenges from multiple perspectives.
  • Ability to influence clients as required on various processes including incident management, support levels, scope of work, etc. and communicate with detail to justify such changes.
  • Advocate for and implement cloud best practices in the areas of resource optimization, monitoring and alerting.
  • Advocate for security best practices and implementation of the same.
  • Comfortable with Agile methods, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Willing to be part of a rotation- and need-based 24x7 available team and able to handle multiple engagement.
