What you'll do

  • Develop and lead the annual internal control activity plan for all head-office operational functions and shared services, aligning with the entity's risk-management framework and COSO principles
  • Design and execute risk-based control assessments covering daily GL movements, people operations, real estate & administration, procurement, customer complaints (L1/L2/L3), physical security, and other shared-service areas
  • Validate physical asset existence, valuation and depreciation (asset register to financial statements), and review purchase-to-pay, stores and inventory handling, including accounts-payable ageing
  • Assess HR processes (joiner–mover–leaver, background screening, payroll, benefits) and the complaint-management workflow across L1/L2/L3
  • Monitor entity-level controls by overseeing the central policy & procedure repository and running periodic attestation reviews
  • Evaluate physical and environmental security controls (access controls, CCTV, UPS, fire suppression) and validate remediation of identified exceptions
  • Develop and manage Key Risk Indicator (KRI) dashboards and a control-deficiency remediation dashboard for follow-up of open findings
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Shared Service Control Officers, assigning work and ensuring quality standards
  • Partner and collaborate with teams across People Operations, Procurement, Customer Support, Legal, Compliance, Treasury and Finance Control, and E-Business Control
  • Stay current with emerging operational risks and regulatory changes, and drive process improvements to raise the entity's control maturity
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned to improve the head-office control environment

What they require

  • 6–8 years of proven experience in internal control assessments, operational auditing, or risk management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity
  • Experience in the banking or financial-services sector strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Big Four firm conducting operational or ICFR assessments is an advantage
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field (a master's degree or MBA is an added advantage)
  • ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, CFE, or other relevant professional certifications; membership of a recognized professional body required
  • Strong practical knowledge of internal-control frameworks: COSO, ISO 31000, entity-level control assessment methodologies, and the Basle Committee Principles for Internal Control Systems in Banking
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Big Data handling
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop a team; experience in work allocation, quality review and performance management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to document and present findings to stakeholders up to senior executive level (incl. FARCo)
  • Meticulous attention to detail, adapt, high integrity, strong organizational and time-management skills
