💼 About The Role

As a Lead Fullstack Engineer, you'll lead engineering for one or more initiatives at Sierra. You'll architect the stack, write clean code, and work with your teammates to ship great products you're proud of. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to take products from idea to production. As an early employee at a startup, you'll also be part of creating our culture!

• Client projects: Work with a startup founder to build the MVP of their idea
• Internal projects: Build an internal AI tool to transform our own workflows
• Hiring: Help us grow our team and interview future candidates
• Leadership: Mentor other engineers to level up our team

🔎 Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is a generalist software engineer who loves to learn new things fast! We care about the ability to learn quickly and lead projects from idea to production more than any specific skills.

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including leading projects or people — formally or informally (tech lead, mentoring, owning a project end-to-end)
• Experience with end-to-end product development, from idea to production
• Growth mindset: able to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and more
• Comfortable communicating in English, written and verbal (our clients are US-based)
• Frontend experience: TypeScript, React
• Backend experience: TypeScript or Python, Node.js or FastAPI
• Experience with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc)
• Ability to accurately estimate timelines and scope

Bonus – nice to have:

• Experience using AI tools for coding (e.g. Cursor)
• Experience building products using Generative AI / LLMs (e.g. using OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, etc)
• Things you've built that you'd like to show us — work projects, open source, or side projects all count!

Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000 annually.

Your exact compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors that reflect your individual qualifications and how they align with the needs of the role.
