What you'll do

  • Run weekly design critiques and rebuild a manager-level review process
  • Establish regular 1:1s and growth plans for consumer designers, advocating for promotion
  • Own the design capacity model across 7 product areas, managing 5–6 designers
  • Represent design's point of view where speed and craft are in tension
  • Arbitrate design-system exceptions and maintain shared system integrity
  • Ship hands-on design work on at least one high-impact area
  • Participate in in-person events and build in-person relationships
  • Be the senior-most design voice in the consumer org, reporting to EVP of Product

What they require

  • 8+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or related field
  • Directly managing designers through performance and promotion cycles
  • Player-coach: practicing designer and people manager
  • Calibrated craft judgment—can run a crit, make leveling calls
  • Proficiency in Figma and other design tools
  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems
  • Strong synthesis from qualitative and quantitative research
  • Comfort holding a design position with executives, evidence-based
  • Fluency with AI-assisted design tooling and its limitations
