What you'll do

  • Gather information on newsworthy US and global topics for coverage across the Editorial team.
  • Craft original, often contrarian ideas that distinguish Simply Wall St from run-of-the-mill financial news mastheads.
  • Respond quickly to US market events, earnings, and time-sensitive matters during US hours, turning them into researched, genuinely useful coverage rather than a rushed reaction.
  • Act as our on-hours US voice, so we are early and credible on the stories that matter to a US audience.
  • Write articles, for either Editorial or B2B, covering investing insights, company and economic news, financial products, and more.
  • Contribute across multiple formats, including The Foxhole, Market Insights, bespoke articles, and emails.
  • Publish, on average, one Market Insights article every three weeks, alongside a steady flow of other timely pieces.
  • Weave in Simply Wall St community assets, such as Narratives and Company Reports, that add insight for the reader and link naturally back to the platform.
  • Optimize content using best SEO and GEO practices to maximize impressions, clicks, click-through rate, and registrations, while maintaining a human voice and a personal brand that resonates with an audience of everyday investors.
  • Treat writing as work with a purpose. Most of what we publish has a business goal behind it, from registrations to engagement, and you write to that goal while keeping the reader's trust.
  • Produce creative, high-converting copy across the business, not only for market coverage. That includes campaign, product, partner, and brand work.
  • Convert without slipping into hype or promissory language.
  • Support the Senior Investment Editor directly with content initiatives and production, and work flexibly with teams across the business on an as-needed basis.

What they require

  • 3 to 5+ years writing about markets, investing, or finance, ideally for a consumer or investor audience.
  • Deep US market fluency. You follow the US news cycle closely, understand earnings season, and know what actually moves US stocks.
  • An experienced stock investor. You understand fundamental analysis, portfolio management, and how long-term investors think, so you can write credibly for an investing audience.
  • Broad knowledge across industries and markets, with the research instinct to go deep quickly on any of them.
  • Excellent written English, with a human, personal voice that everyday investors trust.
  • Comfortable adopting AI tools to research and produce faster, without letting the writing lose its voice.
  • A strong, fast writer who can turn a developing story into a well-researched, useful piece on a deadline.
  • A talent for finding original, often contrarian angles that stand apart from the mainstream take.
  • Able to translate complex investing ideas into accessible, engaging prose that describes rather than prescribes, leaving the decision with the reader.
  • Solid SEO and GEO literacy, without writing for the algorithm at the expense of the reader.
  • Self-editing and reliable, able to run your own pipeline with light oversight.
  • Skilled at crafting conversion copywriting that is naturally woven into the content.
  • Reliable and timely. You deliver on schedule, and fast when it counts.
  • A hustle mentality. Proactive, self-directed, and motivated by the value your work creates.
  • Genuinely curious about markets and investing.
  • Not interested in vanity metrics. Driven by reader value and registrations.
  • Comfortable working remotely, mostly async, as part of a globally distributed team.
  • Based in the United States, Canada, or Latin America (US-aligned time zones).
