What you'll do

  • Lead intelligence product development: Generate, scope, edit, and distribute intelligence products, for both public and private distribution, that support TRM's commercial, policy, and brand objectives.
  • Produce scoping documents defining the key questions, core narrative, and data requirements for each product, in close partnership with analytical anchors and other SMEs.
  • Own the full editorial process from concept and outline through drafting, edits, approvals, and publication.
  • Maintain a recurring cadence of proactive products for law enforcement, government, and private-sector distribution — managing intake, editorial review, compliance checks, and routing end-to-end.
  • Produce quick-turn reactive content — responses to sanctions announcements, enforcement actions, and breaking developments in crypto crime — on tight timelines without sacrificing accuracy or editorial standards.
  • Use AI to drive independent research while maintaining quality, readability, and accuracy.
  • Write, edit, and de-risk content: Author and edit intelligence products for clarity, structure, style, and impact while adhering to TRM's voice, style, and legal/risk guidelines.
  • Verify and cross-check the accuracy of data, references, and claims, working with analysts, data teams, and AI tools to reconcile discrepancies and edge cases.
  • Apply and continuously improve our data de-risking standards.
  • Provide a clear perspective on the best visual representations of data and narratives — charts, figures, tables, diagrams — collaborating with design and analytics to implement them.
  • Partner with analysts and stakeholders: Work closely with threat intelligence, global investigations, data science, product, policy, and marketing to identify the most impactful stories emerging from our data and investigative work.
  • Maintain an effective cadence for scanning the landscape — media, policy, enforcement actions, and internal intel — to propose timely, differentiated storylines.
  • Act as a thought partner to analysts and investigators, helping shape research questions, analytical frames, and audience targeting.
  • Work with go-to-market on data-driven pieces for clients, prospects, and sales cycles, and develop products framed specifically for government and law enforcement audiences.
  • Operate and improve the production engine: Manage project plans, milestones, and stakeholder communication, clearly flagging progress, blockers, and exit criteria at each stage of our shipping framework.
  • Ensure each product follows a clear narrative spine, uses consistent terminology and formatting, and aligns with TRM's risk appetite and strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate or contribute to retrospectives after flagship publications, capturing lessons learned.
  • Maintain and improve scalable systems for organizing drafts, data, and dependencies.

What they require

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, International Relations, Government, Economics, Security Studies, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
  • 7+ years of professional experience in writing and editing data- or research-driven content (investigative reporting, think tank / policy research, intelligence analysis, or similar)
  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, structure, and style, with a proven ability to simplify complex material without sacrificing accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience editing others' work for clarity, narrative coherence, and tone, including providing constructive feedback to subject-matter experts
  • Strong research and fact-checking skills; comfortable working with both quantitative data and qualitative sources (OSINT, court filings, enforcement actions)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain, financial crime, or adjacent domains (sanctions, fraud, cybercrime, AML/CTF, illicit finance), or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on technical subject matter
  • Comfort collaborating with data and analytics teams — reading charts, interrogating data caveats, and discussing methodology at a non-technical level
  • Experience with content management, editorial workflow, or collaboration tools (Google Docs, Notion, project trackers, Slack)
  • Comfort using and iterating on AI tools while maintaining an insistence on the highest-quality outputs

Benefits

  • AI fluency is a baseline expectation at TRM
  • Leadership principles: Impact-Oriented Trailblazer, Master Craftsperson, Inspiring Colleague
  • Distributed-first company with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington D.C., London, and Singapore
  • Series C company with $220M in total funding, backed by Goldman Sachs, Bessemer, Y Combinator, Thoma Bravo, and others
