What you'll do

  • Deploy, upgrade, and maintain High-Speed Data (HSD) infrastructure supporting Internet services.
  • Day-to-day administration and troubleshooting of HSD systems and platforms.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement new and existing technologies and solutions.
  • Manage vendor solutions supporting core platforms such as DNS, DHCP, and DOCSIS provisioning.
  • Maintain lifecycle management environment for all HSD applications.
  • Assist with upgrades to backend technologies.
  • Create Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation: configuration templates, methods of procedures, application diagrams, knowledge base articles, bill of materials, and support documentation.
  • Conduct training for new technology integration, upgrades, and implementations to Cable One team members.
  • Analyze project requests to estimate time and cost and work as part of project teams to determine requirements, risks, and limitations.
  • Perform on-call duties, handle customer equipment escalations, and execute overnight network changes as assigned.
  • Configure, manage and troubleshoot Linux systems, DOCSIS provisioning, DNS and DHCP configuration, authentication, and access policies.
  • Utilize scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Shell) to automate tasks and optimize systems.
  • Respond to escalations directed to the HSD Systems Engineering Team and serve as technical point of contact.

What they require

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, MIS, or CIS from an accredited four-year institution preferred.
  • Minimum two years related progressive experience in a network engineering role required.
  • 6+ years hands-on experience managing CentOS or RHEL environments.
  • 4+ years designing, deploying, and operating high-availability corporate and telecommunications networks.
  • Proficiency with Shell, Python, Perl, Docker, and/or Ansible for system automation and orchestration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced troubleshooting and industry-standard network-security best practices.
  • Previous working background in an MSO (Multiple System Operators) in the cable industry preferred.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and troubleshoot escalated application issues.
  • Must be flexible and able to work on-call outside business hours; position may require up to 10% travel.
  • Preferred experience areas: DHCP, DNS, NTP; IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Associate-level networking certification required (e.g., CCNA); professional-level networking certification preferred.
