What you'll do

  • Orienting students to their courses and communicating course and school requirements. This includes communicating via email, phone, in person and online classroom.
  • Support homeroom students with general school information, schedule set-up, monitor student attendance and progress throughout the program.
  • Serve as a high school student’s first point of contact when an issue arises as the homeroom teacher.
  • Provide live session support to homeroom students who are struggling academically.
  • Provide small group and direct instruction to students of course content.
  • Participate in instructional coaching and develop instruction to address coaching goals.
  • Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
  • Implement student’s IEP’s and attend IEP conferences as needed.
  • Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions as deemed appropriate.
  • Face to Face meetings with students and teaching adult as scheduled, including in person or online classroom meetings.
  • Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner, no more than 3 days without an update in grade book.
  • Ensure all communication with families is documented according to school policies.
  • Meet with regional lead teacher and/or curriculum specialist to discuss student data and set goals and actions for remediation.
  • Provide instruction based on student data action items.
  • Follow all school policies.
  • Participate in State Testing, including proctoring throughout testing window and all other state mandated and school required assessments.
  • Assign students to test sites.
  • Follow up with students who have not tested and make arrangements for makeup testing.
  • Assist site coordinator.
  • Follow up with student, parent and/or administrator if there are issues.
  • Organize testing materials.
  • Contribute to and complete student progress and report cards.
  • Hold Parent Teacher Conferences/ Check In Calls with homeroom families quarterly.
  • Communicate with parents as needed, including calling student, emailing students and parents, meeting students and parents synchronously online and in-person, and returning phone calls and emails as soon as possible but no longer than 24 hours.
  • Collaborate with other instructional teachers and support team.
  • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families including attending community building activities such as school outings, college tours, and other events.
  • Travel regularly within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in school activities and events such as Teacher Collaboration Days and Student Orientations.
  • Communicate with teachers, support staff, and Administration as needed, including calling and/or emailing teachers and Administration as needed and within 24 hours.
  • Attend all in person meetings as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Help with the planning and delivery of Parent Orientations.
  • Contact the families of assigned students for Parent Orientations.
  • Participate in and attend Parent Orientation events.
  • Follow up with families to ensure they are prepared for the start of school.
  • Participate actively in and attend High School Hangouts, Graduation, outings, and other in person events for students and families throughout the year.
  • Ensure students achieve mastery of learning objectives.
  • Provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process and focus on students’ individual needs.
  • Deliver specified Chemistry course content in an online, virtual environment.

  • Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 counties we service students and hire in).
  • Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science: Chemistry.
  • California English Learner Authorization- Issued by CTC.
  • We DO NOT accept temporary county certificates, out-of-state, intern, expired, emergency, short-term staff permits, or credentials in the process of being obtained.
  • All applicants must meet all requirements at the time of applying in order to be considered.
  • Reside in the state of California.
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Must hold a valid California Single Subject Teaching credential with the Science: Chemistry subject authorization.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software.
  • Experience moderating web meetings (Blackboard Collaborate, Webinar, Webex) for small and large groups.
  • A flexible schedule is required.
  • This position is a virtual position working from a home office.
  • Must have ability to travel throughout the school year within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, proctor state exams and participate in school activities and orientations.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Full time teachers work Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm.
  • You are not allowed to have another job during contracted hours.
