What you'll do

  • Take over technical and organizational responsibility for large parts of our legal department and relieve the General Counsel of central tasks in day-to-day business.
  • Actively lead and develop the setup and structuring of the Legal department, drive new processes, and shape collaboration with management, executives, and specialist departments.
  • Take over a large part of the operational and strategic legal work of the General Counsel and act as their close sparring partner and representative.
  • Handle corporate law issues in their entirety: corporate governance, shareholder resolutions, investment structures, holding and group law, M&A transactions, and corporate law compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Be the central point of contact for employment law issues and their contractual and corporate implementation.
  • Further develop and implement the use of AI-supported working methods in the legal department and build up the necessary structures, tools, and processes for this.
  • Conduct contract negotiations and manage external consultants, law firms, and authorities independently.
  • Support product teams in the legal accompaniment of their projects and keep an eye on regulatory developments.
  • Report directly to the General Counsel and take over their representation if necessary.

What they require

  • Two completed state legal examinations, at least one with the grade "satisfactory" ("vollbefriedigend") or better, or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years (ideally 8+ years) of experience in corporate law and related topics such as M&A, corporate governance, and investment structures – acquired as an in-house counsel and/or in a law firm.
  • Knowledge of IT and employment law rounds off your profile.
  • Have independently managed complex corporate law projects, ideally in an international, high-growth, or platform/e-commerce environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of AI tools in the legal field and have already built structures, skills, or workflows for productive AI use in a legal department.
  • Characterized by entrepreneurial thinking, a healthy risk awareness, and high social competence.
  • Convince at all levels with your communication strength and your likeable demeanor, and always work with high precision.
  • Leadership experience rounds off your profile.
  • You can explain complex issues simply and concisely, and have very good English skills.
