What you'll do

  • Define and evolve ICIS's global Chemicals strategy across the value chain.
  • Gather and share information on market dynamics, customer workflows, regulations, and sustainability trends.
  • Use insights to develop and lead portfolio plans that enhance customer value and optimize offerings.
  • Identify growth areas, new segments, and use cases to expand market relevance.
  • Assess M&A, benchmarks, and partnerships to accelerate growth.
  • Collaborate with Product and Content teams as the ultimate subject matter expert and strategic advisor on chemicals market to prioritize evolution and ensure product-market fit.
  • Shape target-state product, data and AI direction for the Chemicals portfolio in partnership with Product and Data leadership, ensuring strategy translates into a coherent build and prioritisation agenda.
  • Lead engagement and collaboration with Sales and Marketing to develop go-to-market plans for key regions and segments.
  • Focus on high-potential geographies and value chain opportunities.
  • Guide pricing and packaging strategies aligned with market expectations.
  • Oversee regional planning via Market Planners, ensuring data-driven execution.
  • Serve as a market-facing leader and ICIS brand ambassador.
  • Build strategic relationships with industry bodies and key stakeholders.
  • Engage with customers to understand evolving needs and workflows.
  • Support thought leadership and represent ICIS at major industry events.
  • Lead and mentor Market Planners to drive regional execution.
  • Apply structured market analysis (TAM/SAM/SOM) for prioritization.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on insight and impact.

What they require

  • Extensive experience in the chemicals/energy industry, with a focus on strategy, consulting, corporate development, or commercial leadership.
  • Background in management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy; familiarity with data analytics and B2B information services preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical value chains, customer workflows, and commercial dynamics.
  • Proven success in developing and executing growth strategies that drive revenue and market expansion.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with expertise in market prioritization, pricing, and go-to-market planning.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills across global, matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence at ExCo and board level, and to steer cross-functional Product, Data, Commercial and AI teams towards a common strategic agenda.
  • Analytical and structured thinker, adept at converting market insights into actionable strategies.
  • Working fluency in how AI, data foundations and modern product delivery reshape commercial opportunity in B2B information services.
  • Direct build experience not required, but credibility to steer product, data and AI teams is essential.
