What you'll do

  • Design and write the game's story content: chapter structure, character dialogue, task descriptions, and narrative beats that connect gameplay progression to an unfolding story
  • Design world and map content: area layouts, unlock sequences, points of interest, and the pacing of how the game world opens up to the player
  • Design item content: item families, collections, and rewards, ensuring each has a clear identity and fits the game's setting and economy
  • Structure content into levels, chapters, and tasks with well-paced difficulty and session goals
  • Balance content against the game economy in close collaboration with the game designer, using spreadsheets and configs
  • Write clear, structured content specifications and briefs for artists and developers, and review implemented content in-game
  • Maintain consistency of tone, world, and characters across all content
  • Plan and produce content for live operations: new areas, chains, events, and seasonal updates after launch

What they require

  • 3+ years of experience as a game content designer, game designer, level designer, or narrative designer on free-to-play mobile or web games
  • Shipped at least one F2P title, ideally in the casual space (merge, hidden object, match-3, decoration, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of casual game progression: task pacing, difficulty curves, session design, and how content feeds retention
  • Solid writing skills in English, with the ability to write concise in-game text and character dialogue
  • Comfortable working data-driven: spreadsheets, config files, and content pipelines hold no fear for you
  • Structured and detail-oriented, able to keep large amounts of interconnected content consistent and documented
  • Hands-on experience with story-driven casual genres (merge, hidden object, match-3 with meta, decoration) as designer or dedicated player
  • Player empathy and the ability to articulate why their content works
  • Experience writing briefs for artists and guiding them through production of the art assets needed to support the story
  • Preferred: Experience designing content for live events and seasonal updates
  • Preferred: Background in narrative design or creative writing for games
