What you'll do

  • Manage and optimize cloud costs, including cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection, and ongoing cost governance across multi-cloud environments while following FinOps best practices, financial controls, and organizational reporting standards.
  • Execute full FinOps lifecycle activities using cloud cost management tooling in collaboration with engineering, finance, and procurement teams using Lean-Agile methodologies.
  • Complete assignments including cost model design, tagging and allocation strategy implementation, rate optimization, and unit economics reporting while following data quality, governance, and process requirements.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of cost anomalies, budget variances, and underutilized or misconfigured cloud resources.
  • Support the team in identifying daily assignments and reporting progress at daily standups.
  • Support financial and technical stakeholders by building showback/chargeback models, dashboards, and verification strategies for cost optimization initiatives.
  • Design and implement systems for aggregation and analysis of cloud billing and usage data across the organization.
  • Ensure infrastructure and architecture changes do not regress cost efficiency by using forecasting models and scenario analysis.
  • Drive a culture of cost accountability across engineering teams.
  • Clearly communicate cost trends, savings opportunities, and support needed to help the team accomplish financial goals.

What they require

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics or related technical field plus competencies and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 6+ years of experience, or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics or related technical field plus competencies and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 3+ years of experience.
  • Passion for cloud economics and driving a culture of cost accountability across engineering teams.
  • Ability to communicate well in a team environment and clearly articulate cost trends, savings opportunities, and support needed to help the team accomplish financial goals.
  • Preferred: FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification.
