What you'll do

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer needs and present appropriate Lumentum solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions for customers.
  • Assist customers with product selection, system architecture design, and integration challenges.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, diagnose root causes, and provide timely solutions to customers.
  • Gather customer feedback and requirements, communicating them effectively to internal engineering and product management teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer technical personnel.
  • Generate technical reports, application notes, and other documentation to support customer engagements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor products, and Lumentum's product roadmap.
  • Travel to customer sites as required to provide on-site technical support and build relationships.

What they require

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a field application engineering, applications engineering, design engineering, or architecture role within the optical communications industry.
  • Strong understanding of optical components and modules, including lasers, transceivers, ROADMs, and amplifiers.
  • Proficiency in optical communication systems, network architectures, and relevant industry standards (e.g., OIF, ITU-T).
  • Experience with optical test and measurement equipment (e.g., optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, BER testers).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Comfort presenting to senior level technical resources (VP Eng, CTO, etc).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
