Ballotpedia is seeking passionate individuals for its Fall 2026 Volunteer Fellowship Program. This remote program focuses on in-depth research of local candidates for the 2026 elections. Fellows will contribute 5-10 hours per week on a flexible schedule.

What you'll do

  • Conducting in-depth research on local candidates from across the country who will appear on the ballot in the 2026 elections.
  • Help build more complete local candidate profiles using the same research standards as full-time staff.
  • Verify and validate candidate information entered by other volunteers.
  • Review spreadsheets with candidate data to ensure information is accurate and up to date.

  • Interested in politics and passionate about Ballotpedia’s mission to provide unbiased, factual information to voters.
  • Strong self-starter who thrives in an independent, remote environment.
  • Curious about data and enjoy learning new skills, even if you are new to data research.
  • Enjoy research and discovering new information.
  • Believe every voter deserves access to reliable information at all levels of government.
  • Access to a computer or laptop and a reliable internet connection.
  • U.S. citizens or visa holders and at least high school age.
