No BS summary

Engineering Manager with 3+ years managing engineers at a SaaS company. Needs a strong technical background, execution ownership, AI-native leadership, and ability to hire, coach, and manage engineering teams. Americas remote only.

What you'll do

  • Care deeply about customers and their outcomes.
  • Lead the squad to deliver customer value by owning projects end to end from planning through delivery, quality, and follow-through.
  • Drive execution by setting milestones, keeping work moving through ambiguity and competing priorities, and shipping in small, observable increments.
  • Make confident decisions when the path is unclear and lead the team through them.
  • Set the operating rhythm that helps the team move fastest instead of defaulting to ceremony.
  • Ensure squad solutions are scalable, architecturally sound, flexible, and secure, with strong peer-review, QA, documentation, deployment, logging, and monitoring practices.
  • Stay close to the work by joining design reviews, architecture calls, and incidents.
  • Provide direct, timely, and specific coaching and create meaningful development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Hire, onboard, and manage performance so the right people are in place to hit squad goals.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate team velocity and help everyone prototype faster and ship smarter.
  • Partner across engineering and other departments to align efforts with customer success and escalate when customers are having a bad day.

What they require

  • 3+ years managing engineers at a SaaS company, B2B or B2C, ideally early-to-mid-stage.
  • Track record of driving execution with concrete delivery outcomes, milestones, dates, and ownership, especially in complex or fast-moving environments.
  • Strong technical background with ability to participate in architecture conversations and design reviews, represent the squad's technical choices, and stay credible through recent shipped work.
  • Comfort operating with high autonomy and little prescribed structure, creating clarity and making difficult tradeoffs between competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated AI-native leadership, including bringing AI-first practices into how the team builds.
  • Experience building high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative teams.
  • Clear, concise, and direct verbal and written communication.
  • Ownership mindset: sets direction, creates clarity, follows through, and holds self and team accountable to shipping.
  • Ability to operate strategically while staying close to technical work.
  • Ability to move work forward through resistance, competing priorities, skeptical stakeholders, and tired teams.
  • Concrete point of view on AI-native development and personal use of agentic tooling.
  • Pragmatic skepticism toward default practices; knows when to build, buy, or wait and can decide with incomplete information.
