What you'll do

  • Facilitate delivery of initiatives to a high standard from initial concept and planning through rollout, collaborating with engineers and non-technical colleagues.
  • Manage and coach engineers so they develop personally and professionally and perform together with impact.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to create a roadmap for success and ensure the team works sustainably for maximum impact.
  • Drive improvements to the team’s processes and practices.
  • Oversee technical decisions and own technical strategy within the product area.
  • Contribute to the role of metrics within Paddle’s wider data strategy.
  • Continuously improve the reliability and scalability of Paddle’s high-traffic event-driven system.
  • Work with other Engineering leaders to contribute to engineering principles and practices and build an industry-leading organisation.

What they require

  • Experience with Go or similar languages.
  • Experience building or scaling subscription or recurring billing systems will be a strong advantage.
  • At least 2 years of management experience with several direct reports.
  • Proven experience as a senior software engineer working on complex, large-scale, cloud-based systems.
  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of what it means to be a high-performing and sustainable engineering team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort leading technical discussions with engineers and non-technical colleagues.
  • Specific experience building products that handle payments, transfers, and financial reconciliation.
  • Enjoys getting into the details and understanding the mechanics of money movements.
  • Comfortable working closely with financial, risk, and legal stakeholders to ensure systems are reliable, compliant, and scalable.
  • Proactive and enjoys taking ownership, while self-aware and open to improving.
  • Proven success working with complex problems and ambiguity, maintaining high standards while balancing progression and perfection.
  • Proven track record of bias for action and strong customer focus.
