What you'll do

  • Work with the team, Product Management and Client Services on defining and delivering the product roadmap
  • Actively participate in technical discussions and design reviews
  • Measure the team's impact
  • Contribute to product strategy
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of the engineering management team, including recruitment and team processes
  • Develop engineers in the team and help with their career development
  • Lead by example through code reviews and hands-on technical work

What they require

  • 2+ years experience of engineering management of product-aligned teams
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments using modern technology stacks similar to Thought Machine's stack: microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS/GCP, Go/Python
  • Technical background to drive technical decisions
  • Great interpersonal skills to drive communication with Product Managers and Client representatives
  • Comfortable working in environments with a high level of responsibility and autonomy
  • Comfortable wearing different Engineering Manager hats that suit the changing needs of a team as it evolves
  • Preferred: Knowledge of banking / finance
  • Preferred: Interest in working on client-facing projects, conducting scoping and defining deliverables
  • Preferred: Previously helped recruit and shape brilliant engineering teams
  • Preferred: Previously taken an active role in defining and evaluating effective team processes
  • Preferred: Previously worked in a hypergrowth environment
