YOUR ROLE AT HOSTINGER
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager with a passion for building great teams and helping engineers do their best work. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
- Team Management: Provide mentorship, allocate tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and lead hiring processes
- Coaching & Growth: Help each engineer grow, giving regular feedback and building clear development paths
- Roadmap Alignment: Actively participate in planning, estimation, and roadmap discussions, ensuring the team's work stays aligned with overall business objectives
- Customer Impact: Keep the customer experience front and center - registration, renewal, and domain continuity flows should stay reliable, fast, and low-friction for millions of customers worldwide
- Delivery Ownership: Own delivery discipline for the team - predictable execution, clear release cadence, multi-vendor integration timelines, and a backlog that shrinks instead of grows
- Technical Collaboration: Contribute to discussions on the technical direction of systems supporting domain registrations and management, translating decisions into team plans and priorities
- Code Review: Take part in code reviews to help maintain quality and standards, working alongside senior engineers
- Collaboration: Work closely with other leads and team managers to ensure effective cross-functional communication
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process optimization across the team's engineering practices, using customer and delivery metrics to decide where to invest - always with the goal of a faster, more reliable experience for our customers
- Problem Resolution: Support the team in resolving technical challenges and act as a point of escalation for delivery and people issues
YOUR EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience and 2+ years in a leadership role
- Delivery Track Record: A track record of improving team delivery - throughput, predictability, or time-to-ship - on a previous team
- Customer & Business Mindset: You think in terms of customer outcomes and business impact - you talk in conversion, revenue, and user outcomes, not just tickets closed
- AI-Native: Hands-on daily use of AI/agentic engineering tools, with an eagerness to spread those practices across the team
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a genuine focus on fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-trust team environment
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, a proactive attitude, and a focus on results
- Technical Fluency: A solid engineering background across backend (PHP, Laravel, Go, GCP, MySQL, Redis, Kubernetes) and working familiarity with frontend technologies - enough to earn credibility with the team and engage confidently in technical discussions across the stack, without needing to own deep architecture decisions yourself
- Production Operations: Good background in incident management, on-call practices, and applying observability tooling
- Curious Mind: A continuous learner who stays updated with the latest industry and people-leadership trends
- Team Spirit: Team-spirited, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort with Ambiguity: "Embracing the unknown" is a concept that doesn't intimidate you
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Domain Knowledge: Good understanding of how domains technically operate
- CloudOps Experience: Previous hands-on work or leadership experience running cloud
