What you'll do

  • Drive frontend and backend excellence across the team’s services, maintaining high reliability for customers and engineers.
  • Architect backend systems using modern design patterns and technologies.
  • Work with Product, Security, UX, and Design partners to drive a technical roadmap centered on evolving customer needs.
  • Bring industry best practices to the team, including agentic tooling, open source technologies, and vendor evaluation.
  • Apply a security mindset to everything the team builds to keep customer safety front of mind.
  • Use data and retrospectives to evolve team productivity and well-being.
  • Set a high performance bar measured by roadmap success, technical excellence, and individual growth.
  • Hire, coach, and grow engineers; build a culture of ownership, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor senior engineers and delegate leadership responsibilities to enable growth.
  • Navigate hard conversations with empathy and create space for the team to drive success.

What they require

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, including a solid foundation as an individual contributor.
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience: leading a team, mentoring engineers, or tech-lead responsibilities with people ownership.
  • Track record of launching and operating full stack, production-scale projects with stringent SLOs.
  • Deep knowledge of identity access management and other developer‑focused security products.
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, or a similar language sufficient to review code and engage in technical design discussions.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure: GCP (or equivalent), serverless (Cloud Run, AWS Lambda, Azure Functions), and Terraform.
  • AI-native instincts: fluency with AI coding assistants and experience with how they change team workflows.
  • Experience with authorization at scale (ReBAC/ABAC) and multi-tenant account modeling is desirable.
  • Experience with GraphQL API design, federation, and gateway architectures is desirable.
  • Experience with search/indexing (Elasticsearch) and event-driven pipelines (Pub/Sub) is desirable.
  • Experience decommissioning legacy systems and running incremental migrations without customer disruption.
  • Experience evaluating vendors and performing build-vs-buy analysis for platform capabilities.
  • Experience building developer-facing surfaces such as CLIs and public APIs.
