Engineering Lead

Twindo is at the forefront of revolutionizing the remodeling, architecture, and interior design industry through cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology. With our LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad scans, we capture precise 3D representations of homes in minutes, providing interactive models with accurate-to-the-inch measurements. Our proprietary process then turns these scans into highly detailed, editable, as-built files in industry-standard formats. Our technology was featured at Apple's keynote when the iPhone's LiDAR sensor was introduced, and we now model millions of square feet each month. As a global virtual-first company, our team members are distributed worldwide, with a concentration in the US and Europe. We are looking for an experienced, strategically-minded Engineering leader who is excited about helping a startup navigate early growth stages and build for scale. An important member of our R&D leadership cohort, this role directly manages our Platform Team – a mission-critical group of backend and infrastructure-focused engineers, who build and maintain our technical foundation and tooling to help us scale and move faster. An ideal candidate would have team management maturity, passion and deep expertise in designing scalable systems, and would be a key thought partner for the Head of Engineering, CPTO and other leaders of the company. We're currently hiring remote candidates based in Europe and Latin America (LATAM). Responsibilities Lead the development of the company’s backend foundation, tooling, and infrastructure that power our operations and engineering teams. Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and Engineering leadership to align technical execution with business priorities. Build and maintain scalable backend systems responsible for processing high volumes of 3D scan and CAD data, lead re-architecture and migration initiatives. Drive platform reliability, scalability, observability, and automation across backend services and infrastructure. Drive team execution by leading sprint planning, retrospectives, standups, demos, and other ceremonies. Help accelerate engineering velocity by improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, developer tooling, AI adoption, and DevOps practices. Contribute hands-on to architecture, implementation, code reviews, and technical decision-making. Lead and grow the team through hiring, coaching, mentorship, and career development. Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, outcomes, and delivering value to our customers. Qualifications Proven experience leading engineering teams and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced environment, with focus on execution and delivery. Strong leadership skills with high agency, customer focus, problem-solving ability, and an outcome-driven mindset. Expertise in software architecture and scalable systems design, preferably a track record in a Principal Engineer or System Architect role. Experience designing and maintaining scalable APIs, distributed systems, monoliths, and/or microservices architectures. Enthusiasm about modern agentic AI tooling and concepts like context engineering. Active usage of Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, with constant exploration and search for further efficiency gains. Hands-on backend experience with Python, Django, Django Rest Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS. Good understanding of infrastructure management, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling. Comfortable operating in Agile development environments and collaborating across multiple time zones and cultures. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
