What you'll do

  • Lead multiple teams of engineers ranging from graduates to seniors
  • Develop engineering managers to maintain Canonical culture in their teams
  • Develop and evangelize engineering practices and processes
  • Set and implement performance management with goals and objectives
  • Identify and measure team health indicators and take action where needed
  • Be accountable for product development roadmaps
  • Participate in the Commercial Systems leadership team
  • Expand teams by hiring talent
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and product users

What they require

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path
  • Proven ability to drive multiple teams or large teams of software engineers to deliver outstanding results
  • Engineering experience in at least one of Golang, Python, Java, or distributed integrations
  • Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Result-oriented with personal drive to meet commitments
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
  • Experience as a leader on a software engineering team
  • Experience developing backend services in Go, Java, or Python
