What you'll do

  • Develop, articulate, and provide advice on the overall intent and meaning behind the regulation/legislation that governs an employee health & welfare benefit plan.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Reg/Leg to implement and direct a strategy to educate, connect, and execute delivery of Regulatory & Legislative Strategy guidance and resources to team members across the country.
  • Stay abreast of newly released laws, rules, and regulations related to health and welfare benefit laws.
  • Respond daily to team members/Brown & Brown employee questions related to laws, rules and regulations for health & welfare benefit plans.
  • Support the Regulatory & Legislative Strategy group inbox daily and timely respond and deploy resources to team members' emails from customers.
  • Contribute to articles/guides related to laws, rules and regulations that apply to health & welfare benefit plans for customers.
  • Create compliance presentations related to applicable laws and present them to customers, prospective customers, team members, and employer groups.
  • Focus heavily on writing and research of complex topics related to health & welfare benefit laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with population health and wellness, pharmacy, actuarial, operations, communications, marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee and make recommendations for appropriate partnerships with vendors that assist with employee health and welfare benefit compliance matters.
  • Oversee strategic third-party partnerships process and provide leadership in managing regional/local liaisons, education, and team member/client solution support.

What they require

  • 8+ years of applicable benefits experience, specifically focused in the areas of benefits compliance.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills, with significant experience in writing, reviewing, analyzing and summarizing complicated laws and regulations related to health and welfare benefit compliance.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and hands-on attitude, self-starter.
  • Ability to manage workflow, communicate with the Reg/Leg team, and take initiative on projects.
  • Experience working independently and responding to rapidly changing priorities.
