What you'll do

  • Take general direction, simple sketches from engineers, client and company standards, and design criteria to develop and progress through all stages of design from feasibility through detail design.
  • Day to day design and preparation of electrical deliverables to achieve efficient facility design considering constructability, safety and cost.
  • Prepare equipment general arrangements, one lines, schematics, grounding plans, lighting plans, cable tray plans, power plans, instrument plans, wiring diagrams, installation details and related electrical deliverables.
  • Prepare bills of materials and quantity take offs.
  • Employ a variety of data sources to build project model environment including laser scan, vendor files, existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points and contours.
  • Transform data from one coordinate system to another.
  • Manage data such as vendor data and client data through the project life cycle.
  • Meet with clients for project kickoff, ongoing design review, and project close out.
  • Perform both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.
  • Maintain open communication with project team, including remote staff, regarding workload planning, task estimating and budgeting.
  • Create, update, and implement group specific standards.
  • Contribute to a complete and integrated set of digital project content, including identification of discipline and vendor interfaces and clashes, by working co-operatively with team members to resolve issues.
  • Assist with preparation of project specification and contract documents.
  • Check and verify work prepared by peer/group.
  • Apply strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working with US electrical and instrument infrastructure and networks at industrial facilities.
  • Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work.
  • Collaborate effectively with US and international design staff to create quality deliverables.
  • Participate in site field visits and walk downs.

What they require

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or AA/AS + 6 years of relevant solar PV and BESS experience.
  • High level design and CAD skills and technical competency in the field of electrical design.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and experience in electrical design and technology principles.
  • Expected to work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.
  • High level of initiative, motivation, drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with excellent attention to detail.
  • Preferred: +10 years of design experience.
  • Preferred: 2+ yrs experience as project technical electrical design lead.
  • Preferred: Adaptability and fervent curiosity in learning new software and applications.
  • Preferred: Experience creating drawings such as power plans and wiring schematics with limited direction from engineering team.
  • Preferred: Experience utilizing and integrating data sets into 3D model such as laser scans and LiDAR.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated experience in AutoCAD 3D modeling environments.
  • Preferred: Experience working in collaborative model environments.
  • Preferred: Experience in the management of Common Data Environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with field walk downs or construction.
  • Preferred: Strong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design development.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of typical stakeholders and ability to anticipate data requests and expectations.
  • Preferred: Understanding of vendor documentation and its use as a reference for assigned tasks.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated experience in participating complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teams.
  • Preferred: Comprehensive knowledge of industry, including safety, standards.
