What you'll do

  • Edit written content to maintain grammatical integrity for the ONC website and mobile app.
  • Ensure ONC's commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate is reflected in all published work.
  • Participate in civil dialogue with conservative, progressive, and moderate writers.
  • Work with script writers and core content writers to ensure consistency in all written materials.
  • Fact-check written content to prevent errors and maintain accuracy.

What they require

  • A competency assessment will be given to candidates who are selected for interviews.
  • This assessment will simply require interviewed candidates to edit an article to resolve grammatical and stylistic errors.
  • Applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication.
  • Interns must commit to at least a full semester.
  • Current student working towards a degree in English or Literature, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, and/or related fields.
  • Exceptional writing skills are required.
  • Preferred: Proficient verbal communication/speaking skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Preferred: Prior editing experience, specifically with AP style.
  • Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator.
  • Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines.
  • Preferred: Google Workspace experience.
  • Ability to attend Organization-Wide meetings every other week.
  • Ability to attend weekly Editorial Team meetings.
  • Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
