What you'll do

  • Manage a full caseload of EDD lien files by reviewing workers’ compensation claims, medical records, payment records, and supporting documentation to determine lien validity and amounts owed.
  • Conduct legal and case-specific research and prepare, draft, obtain, and file documents related to EDD liens and workers’ compensation matters.
  • Communicate directly with EDD representatives to resolve liens, identify discrepancies or overpayments, and negotiate reductions in amounts owed.
  • Consult with handling attorneys regarding claim status, defenses, settlement posture, and overall case strategy.
  • Prepare proposals to resolve EDD liens, negotiate settlements, and coordinate with defense attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals, and EDD representatives throughout the lien resolution process.
  • Maintain detailed case notes, track deadlines, and ensure timely follow-up through resolution of each claim.
  • Maintain required billable hours and enter billing notes in accordance with client-specific requirements.
  • Represent the firm and its clients with professionalism, respect, and integrity.

What they require

  • Two or more years of experience negotiating EDD and California Workers’ Compensation claims (Required)
  • Must have professional and personal contacts with EDD representatives and personnel
  • Knowledge of CA Workers’ Compensation law
  • Highly motivated, results-driven, high energy, and a sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to outstanding customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently with little supervision
