What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end data platform architecture from source systems to serving
  • Decide where the current stack consolidates, where it needs rebuilding, and whether it should move toward a lakehouse pattern
  • Design the path for order data as it moves off the legacy monolith onto a new source of truth
  • Handle event consumption and change data capture through to projections so data lands in the warehouse correctly and on time
  • Bring modeling rigor and a single semantic layer for core metrics like revenue, conversion, and retention
  • Make testing, monitoring, and SLAs standard so issues surface before stakeholders see them
  • Provide feature and serving infrastructure for restaurant ML to run safely and reproducibly
  • Manage warehouse cost and performance as a first-class engineering metric
  • Set the architecture for the data platform
  • Build the hard parts personally early on
  • Grow a team behind the platform

What they require

  • Roughly 10 or more years in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering
  • 3 to 5 years leading and building teams that other people depend on
  • Treat pipelines like software, including version control, code review, automated tests, schema and data contracts, and CI/CD
  • Experience ensuring changes are reviewed before they reach production
  • Deep hands-on experience with a modern data stack
  • Experience with a cloud warehouse or lakehouse such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift
  • Experience with dbt or similar transformation tooling
  • Experience with orchestration such as Airflow, Dagster, or similar
  • Experience with both batch and streaming using Kafka, Spark, Flink, or equivalents
  • Strong data modeling and SQL
  • Production-quality Python
  • Proven ownership of data reliability through SLAs, SLOs, quality monitoring, incident response, and root-cause work
  • Practical governance experience across lineage, cataloging, and access control
  • Experience with PII and payments data
  • Good judgment about where AI and machine learning belong and where they add risk
  • Can be based anywhere in the US or Canada
