What you'll do

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in conformity with U.S. GAAP and applicable non-profit reporting standards
  • Oversee all financial statement footnote disclosures, ensuring completeness and alignment with technical accounting conclusions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on technical accounting and reporting matters and lead annual financial audit coordination
  • Provide support for bond offerings, debt covenant compliance reporting, remarketing, and other financing activities
  • Translate complex accounting outcomes into clear, decision-relevant narratives for operational teams and executive leadership
  • Evaluate complex and non-routine transactions and document accounting conclusions, including preparation of technical accounting memoranda
  • Translate technical conclusions into practical guidance for accounting operations, including journal entries, close support, footnote disclosures, and control considerations
  • Maintain and enhance the organization’s technical accounting framework, policies, and documentation
  • Monitor new and proposed accounting standards, assess impact, and lead implementation efforts
  • Advise on complex accounting areas including revenue recognition, leases, grants and contributions, investments, debt, business combinations, and consolidations
  • Design, implement, and maintain a strong internal controls framework over financial reporting
  • Identify control gaps and recommend/implement remediation activities
  • Provide guidance on reporting and control implications of process changes and new system implementations
  • Partner with Tax, Legal, FP&A, Treasury, and other teams to assess accounting implications of business initiatives
  • Lead scenario planning and critical analysis to assess financial implications of initiatives and regulatory changes
  • Oversee and enhance finance analytics capabilities, developing dashboards, trend analyses, and management reporting packages
  • Partner with Finance Systems, Service, and Transformation and Technology Digital Solutions on financial systems projects and data integrity
  • Inspire and develop a high-performing team; perform supervisory functions including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and resolving employee concerns

What they require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including previous management responsibility
  • Significant experience researching and documenting complex U.S. GAAP positions, including preparation of technical accounting memoranda
  • Prior experience in a complex healthcare organization, academic medical center, or non-profit entity strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firm) preferred
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, including non-profit accounting standards (ASC 958, ASC 954)
  • Strong working knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), investments, debt, and business combinations
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and clearly document conclusions on complex and non-routine accounting matters
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate cross-departmental performance and develop future finance leaders
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and financial reporting systems; familiarity with ERP platforms (e.g., Workday)
  • Knowledge of hospital information systems, including Epic
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI and Power Automate
  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant
