Role Overview As the Director of Data Governance, you will lead the evolution of our data ecosystem from fragmented silos into a unified, high-quality enterprise asset. You will be responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Data Governance Framework, ensuring that data across the organization is accurate, secure, and ready for advanced AI and analytics initiatives. You will understand SOX and public company data requirements and have executed within a public company. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Framework Development Establish Governance Strategy: Define and execute Data Governance roadmap that aligns with the Enterprise Information & Governance vision. Policy Ownership: Review, maintain, and enforce the Data Management Policy and Data Governance Charter, ensuring they reflect current regulatory requirements and business needs. Council Leadership: Serve as a key leader within the Data Governance Council (DGC), facilitating decision-making on data standards and resolving cross-functional data conflicts. Data Quality & Standards Quality Management: Implement the Data Quality Management Procedures, establishing KPIs for data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Standardization: Define enterprise-wide data standards, including metadata management, data lineage, and master data management (MDM) protocols. Remediation: Lead the process for identifying "bad data" and overseeing remediation efforts with data owners and stewards. Security, AI, & Risk Mitigation AI Readiness: Collaborate with the CFO and Security teams to ensure data pipelines are optimized for AI applications while maintaining strict security boundaries. Access Control: Work with Security to define data classification levels and manage high-risk data access policies. Compliance: Ensure data practices adhere to global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and the internal Enterprise Information & Governance mandates. Work closely and align with Deel compliance teams. Stakeholder & Culture Management Stewardship Program: Recruit, train, and manage a network of Data Stewards and Data Owners across business units to ensure local accountability. Data Culture: Act as an evangelist for Data as an Asset, driving a culture of data literacy and accountability throughout the organization. Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates to the CFO and executive leadership on governance maturity, risk levels, and the ROI of data quality initiatives. Required Qualifications & Skills 10+ years in Data Management, Data Governance, or Information Architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role Deep understanding of data profiling tools, metadata harvesters, and modern data stack (Snowflake, dbt, etc.) Experience with AI systems in production Proven ability to draft "Decision Papers" and Charters that gain executive buy-in Strong experience of DAMA-DMBOK frameworks and data quality lifecycle management Exceptional ability to translate technical data risks into business impact for C-suite stakeholders Total Rewards Our workforce deserves fair and competitive pay that meets them where they are. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission. Salary ranges are quoted in USD as a consistent global reference. Your offer will be localized to your country's currency using a market-aligned conversion. Final pay is based on objective, job-related criteria including experience, skills, and location. We don't ask about salary history. Offers are based on the role and what you bring to it.
